Carley has never met a dad joke she didn’t like.
Carley spent her son’s epic naps on maternity leave completing a branding degree from Cornell University.
Carley Thornell’s first job was filing paper medical records in a hospital occupational health office prior – a role that taught her the importance of data privacy, data safety, and ethics.
She has degrees in journalism, history, and English, a path that led her to a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news reporting and editing. Healthcare and technology were among her beats before transitioning to a career in marketing.
Before joining Sage, Carley ran the thought leadership content and strategy program at one of the country’s leading EHRs. There she wrote more than 100 case studies and white papers, published independent research with data scientists, and coordinated executive leadership events with Harvard Business School. Most recently, she managed the healthcare and life sciences vertical at Akamai, where her focus was on digitizing and securing the ecosystem of payer, provider, pharmaceutical, and HCIT organizations.
Carley is passionate about traveling and has been to 60-plus countries. She became a mom just prior to the pandemic and today her day-to-day adventures with toddler Jimmy are typically closer to home in Greater Boston.
She enjoys activities for the mind, body, and soul – like cooking, reading, working out, and family time.
